Hi Friends!
Yep, It's that time of year again...BUDDY WALK TIME!
Our
little Down Syndrome Diva continues to amaze, impress and inspire us
each and every day! Macy is two, but we have yet to see any signs of
that "terrible" stuff that's supposed to accompany this magic age! She
is a constant ray of sunshine and nothing short of AWESOME and
FUN-LOVING! Quite the social butterfly, she literally lights up any
room she walks into with her huge smile and friendly face. Wherever we
go, she enters like she owns the place, walks with a confident swagger,
makes intense eye-contact, waves, high-fives and blows kisses (usually
in that order) to whomever happens to be in her path, like it's her
JOB! Quite the little greeter we have on her hands. I think her outgoing personality is actually starting to rub off on her shy big sis. :-)
Aside
from being a shining example of inclusiveness & acceptance, Macy
has taught us and everyone around her so much about life, love,
compassion and faith. It is hard to believe how this one tiny extra
chromosome can make such a dramatic impact on our hearts! I am just
thrilled that we get to have a front row seats to the BEST SHOW ON
EARTH...MACY!
Not
only are we, her parents, blessed to have been chosen to care for and
love this little angel...but God has placed her in all of your lives as
well. As you know, IT TAKES A VILLAGE! She has an amazing support
system of family and friends in all of you, for that she is truly
blessed!
---------------------------------------------------------------
okay - so back to this "Buddy Walk" business...
I'm
super bummed that our family will not be able to actually participate
in this years' event as we will be out of town for our annual "Lee"
Family Reunion. :( Big bummer! Macy has had such a great show of
support the last few years, averaging about 100 teammates.

I'm sure our
"sea of blue t-shirts" will be missed. We'll just have to come back
bigger & stronger next year!! :-)
But
I still wanted to be sure to set up a page to raise money and awareness
for this "OH SO IMPORTANT & AMAZING TO US" organization.
Funds
raised at the Buddy Walk support the MANY programs the DSA has to
offer, including but not limited to the Advocacy of the Midland's
Conference, collaboration with Down Syndrome Specialists in area school
districts, social events for our kids and their parents, new parent
outreach, medical outreach, etc... Funds are also directed to national
advocacy and research efforts. It
helps bring opportunities to Macy and her wonderful friends that
otherwise wouldn’t exist. Joe and I have met so many wonderful families
who are on this very same journey, for this we are extremely grateful!
The
"Down Syndrome Super Mom's" group I am a part of is priceless!! We are
so fortunate to have such a tight-knit, caring and supportive group of
ladies, right here in our community. We get together often to share
concerns, successes, triumphs, challenges and everything else. The best
part is the connections-made and friendships-formed by our children!
These bonds will last a lifetime.
Here
is the information on the event - even though we are unable to go, I
encourage you to still attend if you like...fun for ALL ages...(again,
I'm SOO bummed to have to miss out).
